Homemade Grape Jelly

Here at Bosch Mixers, it is our mission to help busy families eat the best homemade food possible. So, since children are back to school, you can make their day a little brighter with some homemade grape jelly for their ever-present PB&J sandwiches.

Ingredients

    HOMEMADE GRAPE JELLY

  • 1 box of powdered pectin
  • 6 1/2 cups of white sugar
  • 5 lbs of grapes (any color)
  • ¼ tsp applesauce

Recipe Instructions

Remove grapes from vines and rinse all your grapes in a colander. After they are all rinsed, place your grapes in a large pot, then add water until the grapes are just covered. Allow your grapes to simmer for 10 minutes. Keep an eye on your grapes, as they might be soft before the 10-minute mark. Pour your cooked grapes into your Bosch Universal Plus with the wire whips attachment on. Allow your stand mixer to whisk the grapes until all large chunks are broken up. Using either cheesecloth or a jelly straining bag, strain your grapes into a bowl, removing the pulp and keeping the grape juice. Pour 5 cups of grape juice into a large saucepan. You can add a bit of water to make the 5 cups even. Add your pectin to the grape juice in the pan and bring the mixture to a boil. Be sure to stir continually during this process. As you stir, remove your pan from the heat and add your applesauce, then return to heat. After a minute of stirring, remove the pan from the heat and add in your sugar. Return the pan to the heat and stir for a minute as the sugar dissolves. Take the saucepan off your heat source and clear off any foam that may have developed. Then carefully ladle the grape jelly into sterile canning jars (4 pint-sized jars or 8 half-pints). Give ¼” space around the top of the can. Before placing on the lid, be sure to wipe the mouth of the can free of sticky leftovers. Place the canned jelly into a preserves pot and cover the tops of the cans with at least an inch of water. After bringing the water to a boil, allow the canned jelly to process for 5 minutes*. Carefully remove processed jelly from the pot and allow it to cool on your kitchen counter with a towel below to catch water residue. With a Bosch stand mixer and the right attachments, any recipe can become that much easier. *Important to note, depending on your elevation level, you may need to make a few timing alterations.
