How to Convert a Quick Bread Recipe Into Muffins

How to Convert a Quick Bread Recipe Into Muffins

Have you ever wondered if you can turn your favorite quick bread recipes into muffins (or vice versa)?

Wonder no more, because it’s quick and easy to convert a recipe, especially with the help of your Bosch Universal Plus! Muffins and quick breads typically use the same ingredients, so you can easily convert your treasured quick bread recipe into muffins.

When it comes to converting quick bread into muffins, there are three simple rules.

1. One loaf of bread equals 12 muffins

A recipe that makes one loaf of bread will make 12 muffins (1/4 cup of batter per muffin). If you have batter left over, feel free to make more muffins. If you don’t have enough batter for 12 muffins, don’t fret! You can always make more batter later if you really need to.

On the other hand, if you have a quick bread recipe that makes two loaves of bread, you can easily make two dozen muffins, or one loaf and 12 muffins.

2. Adjust the baking temperature

Typically you will raise the baking temperature by at least 25 minutes Fahrenheit when you are converting from quick bread to muffins. That means if you have a quick bread recipe that bakes at 350° F, you’ll bake the muffins at 375° F. Most quick breads bake at 350° F, so as a general rule of thumb bake muffins at 375° F.

3. Bake for a shorter amount of time

Since muffins are smaller in size than a loaf of quick bread, they obviously won’t need to bake as long as bread.

Instead of baking for 60 minutes like you would quick bread, muffins only need 30 minutes. Although, we do recommend checking in on them around 20 minutes. Once the muffins start looking golden brown, you can check them for doneness with a toothpick.
